A FLOOR TO YOUR TASTE
Before proceeding with the work, we will determine with you what type of finish you desire for your floor. Do you want a matte or satin finish varnish? Would you prefer an oil application instead of varnish? Would you like to change the color of your floor and staircase with a semi-transparent stain?
We will present all possible options and show you samples of different varnish finishes (Vermeister or Bona products) as well as the many available stain colors (Duraseal products)! We will discuss the technical properties of the finishing products we use and indicate the time required to complete the work. You will choose the days and times that are convenient for you.
OUR FLOOR SANDING AND POLISHING TECHNIQUES
The MCM PLANCHERS team uses floor sanding and polishing machines that produce very little dust. Your furniture and surfaces will be left clean after the work. Through meticulous sanding, we will remove the varnish and the thin layer of wood that contains scratch, scuff, or impact marks. For this, medium-grit sandpaper will be used.
Then, we will perform a second sanding with fine-grit sandpaper. This will smooth (polish) the entire surface of your hardwood floor. We will then apply an ultra-resistant water-based varnish (Vermeister or Bona brand) to seal and protect your floor from abrasion for many years. If you wish to stain your floor, we can do so as we are specialists in semi-transparent floor staining with Duraseal products!
Please note that if your floor is made of softwood or is covered with glue or oil paint, our sanding work will take longer, and the price will be slightly higher. We will then need to use coarse-grit sandpaper for the first sanding.
