A hardwood floor covered with an oil finish (transparent or semi-transparent oil stain) deeply hydrates the wood, protects it, and gives it a rich and refined color. An oil finish allows the wood to resist abrasion while maintaining its matte and natural appearance.
Applied to the floor after being heated, the oil finish penetrates deeply into the wood's pores, revitalizing it. The DURASEAL oil stain we use can be left without a protective varnish (or covered with an additional varnish if desired) because it is formulated to seal and provide increased durability. The rich blend of oil and resin gives hardwood floors a soft and satin texture.
The oil finish on hardwood floors is recommended for rustic, eco-friendly homes or high-end residences, as well as cultural buildings such as theaters and art galleries.
The oil finish can be applied to a previously varnished floor: the varnish is sanded down to the bare wood, then polished and oiled, and left to dry.
